POST-SURGICAL
CARE

Exceptional Care Beyond the Operating Room

Once your horse returns home, our commitment to their recovery continues. We provide post-surgical follow-up, including farm visits when appropriate, while working alongside the horse’s primary and referring veterinarian to monitor healing and guide recovery.

Through our collaboration with Lexington Equine Medical, additional ambulatory support is available when needed—while maintaining the continuity of care and veterinary relationships that matter to each horse.

On-Farm Follow-Up Evaluations

Our team can provide on-farm rechecks to monitor healing, assess progress, and ensure recovery is moving in the right direction.

Suture & Implant Removal

Routine post-operative procedures can often be completed at the horse’s home farm for convenience and continuity of care.

Recovery Monitoring

Regular evaluations help track progress, identify concerns early, and adjust treatment or rehabilitation recommendations as needed.

Rehabilitation Guidance

We work with owners, trainers, and veterinarians to develop appropriate return-to-work plans based on the individual horse and procedure performed.

A Seamless Continuum of Care

At Lexington Equine Surgery Center, our commitment to your horse continues long after surgery is complete. Successful recovery requires thoughtful follow-up, clear communication, and a team that understands each horse’s individual needs and goals.

Through our collaboration with Lexington Equine Medical, we are uniquely positioned to provide both specialized surgical care and ongoing ambulatory support. This partnership allows horses to transition seamlessly from surgical treatment to follow-up care while maintaining the personalized attention and continuity that are essential to successful outcomes.

From the operating room to the home farm, our focus remains the same: providing exceptional care throughout every stage of the journey.

A Collaborative Approach to Care

We believe the best outcomes come from teamwork. Lexington Equine Surgery Center works closely with owners, trainers, and referring veterinarians to ensure clear communication throughout the surgical process and recovery.
